Opportunities to visit us

We know that getting a feel for a school is an important part of the application process. We offer a range of opportunities for parents and students to visit us in the run up to the October admissions deadline. These include an open evening, taster lessons for year 6 students and small group tours.

All opportunities listed below will only go ahead if government guidance allows.

Open Evening, Wednesday 6th October 2021

We’re looking forward to welcoming you to our school on 6th October for our Open Evening. It will be a lower-key event than usual, due to Covid-19, but will still give you and your child the chance to experience ‘the essence of Archer’.

Watch the Headteacher’s talk here. We have pre-recorded our headteacher’s talk and it is now available to view.

We are pre-recording our headteacher’s talk and it will be available before, during and after the event. The live talk doesn’t include a Q and A, so you’ll get the same information from watching it online as you would in person. It would be helpful if some of our visitors chose this option, to keep our risk of transmission as low as possible.

Headteacher Lucy Harrison will give talks at the Open Evening at: 6.15pm, 7.00pm, 7.45pm & 8.30pm. We are expecting high levels of interest in this event and we are asking visitors to pre-book tickets to hear one of these talks. You can do so via our events booking page: http://tinyurl.com/archerevents

Please note, if we have a large number of attendees we will have two queues on the night; one for families who have booked tickets for a talk and the other for non-ticket holders. If you haven’t booked a ticket, you will still be welcome to come to the open evening, but you may have a longer wait to get in. You will need to allow around 40 minutes either before or after your Headteacher talk if you would also like a tour of the school.

Five ways you can help us keep everyone safe at Open Evening

In the meantime, here are five things you can do to help us keep our staff, students and visitors (including you!) as safe as possible.

(1) Limit your visit to two members of your family. We appreciate it’s hard to choose who comes, but the fewer people we have in the building, the easier social distancing will be.

(2) Do a lateral flow test before you come along. Tests are still freely available from chemists.

(3) Wear a mask as you walk around the building. Unless you’re exempt, we’d really appreciate your support with this.

(4) Try and keep your tour to an hour. Again, this will help us keep a safe distance between all the members of our community.

(5) Avoid parking on Stanley Road or Eagans Close. This one is for road safety reasons rather than Covid ones; please park a little distance away and walk.

You can also get to know our Head of Year 7, Miss Ogbaselase and some current students by watching this video.

Taster Lessons

We hope to offer year 6 students the chance to come to the Archer Academy and try out some taster lessons for themselves on Wednesday 13th October from 4.30 – 6pm at our lower school campus. Please book tickets here: http://tinyurl.com/archerevents

Small Group Tours (Year 6 only)

We are also holding a series of small group tours for year 6 students and their parents at lower school. These will take place from 9.15am – 10.15am each day from Monday 11th October – Friday 15th October. Places will need to be booked in advance by phone as numbers will be limited to give everyone the chance to ask questions; please call our Admissions Officer, Sharon Walsh to book: 020 8365 4110.

Consideration for our neighbours

Our relationships with members of our local community are very important to us. We would therefore ask anyone attending any events at the Archer Academy to consider our neighbours, and either come by public transport or park some distance away from the school and walk. Please note that there is no parking available on either site. Thank you for your support; we look forward to seeing you at one or more of our events.

If you would like to find out more about our school, please browse our prospectus and watch a recording of our September 2020 open evening.

We have also created some short films, which cover topics including snack-sized subjects, a chat with some Year 7s and a visit from some of our Archer alumni. You can watch them all here.
