What have you been doing since you left Archer Academy?

After leaving Archer Academy, I went to Woodhouse College to study Maths, Geography, and Economics. I then went to Durham University, where I am now going into my third and final year studying Philosophy, Politics and Economics. I am currently spending 10 weeks of my summer as an intern at the Financial Conduct Authority in a role I hope to return as when I graduate.

How did you get into what you are doing now?

My first steps in choosing my degree came from my interest in Economics, which I studied both at Archer and at Woodhouse. I wanted to combine this with a wider interest in politics and philosophy which I developed through further reading, especially in current affairs, and so I chose PPE.

How did Archer help to shape your post-school choices?

Archer gave me the resources to discover where my strengths were, and crucially how to best use my strengths to my advantage in applications to further education and beyond. For me, this took the form of studying Economics as a GCSE, which was a stepping stone to my further studies in Economics. Having a responsive group of teachers at your disposal is an invaluable resource when looking for advice on what your next steps should be, and where these may take you in the future.

What advice would you give a current Archer student about your chosen pathway?

Explore what you do and do not like, as it is what you enjoy doing that you will ultimately be best at. There is no better time to find this out than at Archer.

A favourite memory of life at Archer?

Even half a decade later, my favourite memories at Archer involve playing football at lunch with my mates on the Astro. The X vs Y Derby produced some of the highest quality football I’ve seen to this day.
