Enriching our students’ lives
Our extended curriculum is a central part of Archer Academy life. All Archer students take part in enrichment activities at the end of the formal school day on a Tuesday and Thursday, to enable them to learn important skills that help them in and beyond their lessons and to discover their hidden talents and passions. They can chose from subjects as diverse as rock climbing, Japanese, chess, archery, beat boxing and contemporary dance, to name just a few.
Year 7 and Year 8 students begin each term with an Enrichment Fair, during which they have the opportunity to meet with our different enrichment tutors and find out about all of the courses on offer. Students make a Tuesday choice and a Thursday choice for each term.
From Year 10 onwards, the programme becomes more tailored, with Archer Plus, where students can take accredited courses such as the Duke of Edinburgh award, a First Aid course or study for an additional GCSE such as Further Maths or Latin.
